Boasting panoramic views of Crete and varied landscape with mountains, and fertile plains dotted all across the island from east to west. Its limestone mountains follow the mountain system from mainland Greece and in Western Crete.

Experience a little bit of paradise at the Cabana Mare Beach Club at Agia Marina, one of the most renowned resort towns in Chania. This long, sandy beach offers many facilities, including friendly beach bars and small, atmospheric taverns.

Touch upon slices of Chania’s history across the ages from the Minoans, to the Romans, the Byzantines, the Arabs, the Venetians and Ottomans until today. Perched above the busy port of Souda is the archaeological site of Aptera, a site first inhabited by the Minoans in the 14th century who selected the area for its strategic importance overlooking the ancient sea ports. The views from here across Souda Bay are spectacular. Aptera soon became one of the most important trading centers of the region, until destructed by a severe earthquake.

Experience the Cretan countryside by taking a 20 minute scenic drive to the archaeological site of Aptera, one of the most significant ancient sites of Western Crete. Still standing today are the Temple of Demeter, the Roman Cisterns, city fortifications, the Monastery of St. John the Theologian, the Theatre and an Ottoman Fort.
