Holland America Line's youth activities program, Club HAL, offers an array of entertaining events for kids and teens ages 3-17, supervised by a full-time, professionally trained staff. They'll have an opportunity to join other kids their age for arts and crafts, sports, video game competitions, scavenger hunts, challenging team games and themed parties.

Nieuw Statendam

The road north leads through rolling green countryside to medieval Canterbury -- site of the magnificent Canterbury Cathedral. Learn of the cathedral's epic history from your guide as you view the exterior -- it was built in two stages: AD 1070-1184 and 1391-1505. Enter the cathedral for an unguided tour of the building in which Archbishop Thomas Becket was murdered in 1170 -- a story immortalized in Chaucer's Canterbury Tales. There will be an opportunity to browse in the shops of Canterbury before returning to the ship at Dover.

Travel by motorcoach a short distance on the main freeway; then you're off into the hinterland, driving along country roads through the quaint and scenic county of Kent. You'll pass small villages, farms and the hamlets of Tenterden and Northiam. Drive down charming High Street of Northiam, where the buildings are clad in their original façades dating from the 16th to 18th centuries.

This tour is designed for guest who prefer to see the sights from the motorcoach with little or no walking involved. View sights such as Westminster Abbey and St Paul's Cathedral, Big Ben and Buckingham Palace. Lunch at an authentic English pub is included on this full-day excursion.

Board a riverboat for a scenic cruise through London on the famous River Thames. Your vessel features a glass observation deck, as well as an open-air promenade deck. You'll see the neo-Gothic Parliament buildings that dominate the riverbank, and pass the Tower of London where William the Conqueror created London's notorious royal prison and the site of some very bloody executions. The iconic, Victorian-era Tower Bridge is situated adjacent to the Tower of London.

Discover Lisbon by coach, funicular, elevator, tram and your own two feet on this tour that shows you what it's like to move about like a Lisboeta (a Lisbon native). It takes you all over, using a wide range of transportation options.

Approximately 90 minutes from Lisbon is Fatima, the so-called 'Lourdes of Portugal' which, according to Roman Catholicism, is the site of miracles. Your guide will explain the legends associate with Fatima as you explore the area around the imposing modern basilica.

From the pier, travel along the banks of the Tagus River to Baixa, the old business and shopping district with charming narrow streets and the famous squares of Comércio and Rossio. Drive along Liberty Avenue, a charming old boulevard lined with gardens and known for its unique black and white mosaic sidewalks.

The word Baroque comes from the Portuguese barroco, which means an imperfect pearl. Baroque is an architectural and decorative style which flourished all over Europe in the 17th and 18th centuries -- a time when Portugal enjoyed tremendous wealth from the discovery and exploitation of mines in Brazil.

A panoramic drive gives you a chance to enjoy Lisbon's highlights. Watch for Avenida da Liberdade, with its mosaic-lined sidewalks, Black Horse Square and the Park Edward VII viewpoint with a magnificent view of the city.

See from the outside some of the most important landmarks of Lisbon -- the Tower of Belem, the Monument to the Discoveries and the Jeronimos Monastery.

A scenic 1½-hour drive through the beautiful Portuguese countryside leads to the medieval town of Obidos, dating back to 308 BC. Since King Diniz first gave the town to his young bride, Obidos has been a wedding gift to all of Portugal's queens.

Your yellow 'bus' starts out on land and takes you on a panoramic drive through the Netherlands' second city. Watch for the highlights, including the modern architecture of the Weena building situated in the business district. This is a splendid example of art-meets-commerce -- a common theme in Rotterdam. View the Café Rotterdam, Schouwburgplein, Kop van Zuid, and Coolsingel with the Town Hall and central Post Office,

Head out on a scenic journey along the IJssel and enjoy the typical Dutch landscape. Your first stop will be as a 17th century Cheese farm in the countryside. Here you will see firsthand how cheese is made and how you can recognize a 'real Gouda cheese'. You will also have an opportunity to sample some of the cheeses.

The tulip has become a revered symbol of the Netherlands. Keukenhof town is the middle of the most important bulb-growing area in Holland. Originally, the area surrounding Keukenhof was used for hunting and for collecting herbs for the castle -- hence the name Keukenhof, meaning 'the kitchen garden'.

The windmills of Kinderdijk, built in the 1700s, are collectively a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The 19 windmills that remain intact today are lined up along the riverfront, and were used to pump rising water to the canal and thus keep the village dry. Incidentally, the name of this charming village comes from the time of the St Elisabeth flood in 1421, when the villagers found a baby (kind) on the dike (dijk).

Head to the fishing village of Câmara de Lobos, made famous by none other than Winston Churchill, who painted and relaxed in this picturesque setting.

Departing the port by motorcoach, you'll travel you along the seafront avenue to the Funchal Farmers' Market. Enjoy the sounds and scents of this market with its enormous variety of fruit, vegetables and flowers.

Enjoy a brief adventure with a wicker sleigh ride down to Livramento. This form of transportation is a step back into the past and is a rather thrilling ride is quite unique to Madeira.

Begin with a drive along the island's west coast to Cabo Girão -- the tallest sea cliff in Europe and the second tallest in the world at 1,902 feet. There are stunning views out over Funchal and to the distant horizon. Look for the inhospitable terraces that hug the side of the cliff and are farmed even today, although the laws of gravity would suggest otherwise.

A great panoramic overview of Madeira and fantastic views over the Bay of Funchal makes this tour an ideal start to the day.

Head inland from Funchal to the viewpoint on Eira do Serrado for an amazing panorama over the island. Sample a taste of Ginja -- a liqueur traditional to this region -- with a slice of homemade cake.

Immerse yourself in the peace, tranquility, and abundant color of the beautiful plants, flowers, and vegetation that inhabit the Canary Islands, including the Botanic Garden, the Palmetum, and the Orchid Gardens of Sitio Litre.

Travel through mountains and valleys to experience the 'moonscape' of Las Cañadas, the greenery of La Esperanza, and the lush fields of the Orotava Valley. The freeway winds westward through the La Esperanza Forest along the crest of the mountain range that forms the backbone of the island.

Combine a panoramic city tour of Santa Cruz with the Pyramid Park of Tenerife. Driving along the boulevards of Santa Cruz, you'll pass several luxury hotels, the local botanic park and the old bullring (bullfighting is now prohibited in the Canary Islands).
