An outstanding Caribbean experience, the St Maarten America's Cup 12-Metre Regatta offers you the only opportunity in the Caribbean to race an exotic multi-million-dollar America's Cup racing boat.

Travel by air-conditioned transportation to an authentic, laid-back beach on the Dutch side of St Maarten. All beaches are public here, so feel free to roam and enjoy the magnificent sand stretching far away. This is not a resort -- it is just a local, down-to-earth Caribbean beach. Founded in 1707, Otrobanda is the newer section of the city and its name translates to ‘other side’. You’ll see a lovely array of historic mansions as you drive past the Queen Emma Bridge -- the famous floating bridge that connects both sides of Willemstad. Traveling over another famous bridge, the Queen Juliana Bridge, is an exhilarating experience. This is the tallest bridge in the Caribbean, you’ll find yourself 185 feet above sea level with expansive views of the city and harbor below.

This tour gives you a chance to experience two highlights of Curaçao -- the Hato Caves and the famous city center, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Beach Express takes you to the ‘other side’ of the island where nature reigns and the beaches are unspoiled.

Drive through Willemstad, heading westward through the city and out into the countryside. Along the way, you’ll see several plantation homes and old slave houses.

After Manaus and Belém, Santarém is the Amazon's most vital port, boasting a history that dates back to 1661. The town's role has been primarily as a local trading center rather than a tourist spot, making today's excursion a chance to get a glimpse of day-to-day life in the Amazon.

Your destination is the Tapajós National Forest -- a section of the Brazilian Amazon that is a major resource of tropical hardwoods. The Tapajós National Forest covers an area of 1,482,660 acres and is protected by federal law.

Transfer to the world-famous pink-and-white Teatro Amazonas Opera House for an evening performance that is quite unique and fascinating. Its dazzling auditorium boasts perfect acoustics, and today, you will attend a public performance at the Teatro Amazonas.

Cross the Rio Negro by riverboat into Lake January, where you will board a covered canoe with an outboard motor, and cruise through the dark and exciting jungle. Nighttime is when the jungle really comes to life. Watch the shadows and listen to the mysterious sounds.

Take a panoramic drive through Manaus before a 40-minute boat transfer to the Amazon Ecopark Jungle Lodge. This facility began life as a scientific and educational property, created by private initiative in 1991. It opened its doors to the public as an ecotourism lodge in 1995. Although no longer a scientific property, this riverside resort provides a platform from which you can experience the beauty of the rain forest and learn about jungle life. Several streams of clear water run through the area and more than six miles of jungle trails, some with uncatalogued species, natural savannahs and creeks, enable you to explore the jungle and observe orchids and giant trees.

As you travel, you will pass the Customs House—prefabricated in Liverpool and shipped to Manaus a hundred years ago. Watch for the Palacio Rio Negro -- it started out as the private residence of a German rubber baron and eventually became the Governor’s office.

Take a closer look at the Meeting of the Waters from a water-level perspective on board a local boat. This is where the Rio Negro and Solimoes run side by side for many miles clearly delineated by their respective colors.

Meet the inhabitants of the Amazon region with a visit to Bosque da Ciencia. This open-air museum is an Amazonian Research Station whose most famous project is the species revival of the Amazon river manatee. Observe these strange creatures that are in danger of extinction as they swim in a glass tank. Part of the museum is open-air, with access via trails.

Visit the Municipal Market, where the local guide teaches you how to discern the best local fish, fruits and medicinal herbs. Drive by the Customs House, prefabricated in Liverpool and shipped to Manaus a hundred years ago, and watch for the cathedral. The Palacio Rio Negro was the private residence of a German rubber baron and, later, the Governor’s office.

Cruise along the colorful streets of Parintins by triciclo. This compact form of transportation translates as 'tricycle', but it's not a trike. Each triciclo takes one or two guests, and it's like riding in a tuk-tuk in Asia. The South American version is every bit as zippy, and it's a point of pride in Parintins for each triciclo to be decorated by its owner.

The must-see Boi Bumba is one of the greatest folk festivals in Brazil. It is a world full of magic, bright colors, music, dance and folklore -- a feast for the senses. The luxurious costumes and floats, comparable to those seen at Rio’s Carnival, are a spectacle.

Board a regional boat for a cruise to the Meeting of the Waters, where the Amazon and Tapajós Rivers come together and flow side by side for many miles before their distinctive colors meld.

Depart the pier for a drive to Mercado 2000, where you will visit a fish and fruit market to see a wide variety of fish species and tropical fruits consumed by the inhabitants of the Amazon area.

This tour provides a glimpse into the life and times of Santarém -- one of the Amazon’s most vital ports after Manaus and Belém -- with a history that dates back to 1661. While Santarém’s most important function is that of a local trading center rather than a tourist hotspot, it offers visitors some interesting sights and locales.
