With its exciting culinary scene, Buenos Aires is a city that is a delight for foodies and anyone who loves a good meal. On this food tour with a small group of like-minded travelers (8 to 20 people), visit some of its authentic restaurants.

Since 1908, the Columbus Theatre (or Teatro Colón) has set the benchmark for gilded magnificence and the ultimate theatre experience. It is one of the most iconic historical monuments in Argentina and considered one of the world's top-five opera houses. The luxurious seven-story building seats 2,500 theatre-goers on plush red velvet chairs arranged in tiers of gilded balconies rising to giddying heights. Your guide takes you backstage today so that you can discover the theater's rich history and amazing personality.

This tour is designed to cover the major highlights of Buenos Aires. From the port you'll begin by driving through the Palermo area with its beautiful parks, the City Zoo, Botanic Gardens, Argentine Horse Track and the National Polo Fields.

In Buenos Aires, drive along Avenida de Mayo, surrounded by the Casa Rosada Government House, the Metropolitan Cathedral and the Cabildo built during Spanish rule. Pass by the Colón Theatre Opera House -- the cultural pride of Buenos Aires.

Walk ten minutes to reach the Carnival Museum, located right in front of the port. This facility offers an insight into one of the best-kept secrets of South America. Carnival in Uruguay is a mix of European and African traditions. There five categories in which local Carnival groups compete each year. Drummers and dancers play and dance to a drum-based rhythm known as Candombé, which originally comes from Angola and the Congo. The African slaves that were brought to South America in the 17th and 18th century used Candombé as a means to express their culture and united their history, culture and religion in the music and the dance moves. After Uruguay's Declaration of Independence in 1825, slavery was abolished. However, Candombé remained essential to Uruguay´s culture and has become not only very popular but also an important link for the different ethnicities.

Montevideo is an eclectic mix of architectural influences, with impressive buildings dating back to very prosperous times. The city borders on being an open-air exhibition of monuments, sculptures and museums, displaying the wonderful work of Uruguayan artists and architects.

Stroll through the picturesque streets of Colonia del Sacramento, the oldest city in Uruguay. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995, Colonia was founded by the Portuguese in 1680.

Rich with European heritage, Montevideo reflects in its architecture and attitude the varied culture of its early settlers, who came from Spain, Portugal and Italy.

Numerous rivers run through the western coastal mountains, forming the spectacular fjords of the Chilean Andes adjacent to the sea. The majestic Aysén River and its extensive watershed flow into the Pacific at Chacabuco. Your adventure begins here. The Coyhaique-Aysén region is internationally known for fly-fishing. Anglers come from around the world from October to late May to enjoy this experience. If you are a beginner or have wanted to learn to fly-fish, this is the perfect activity for couples, new shipboard friends, or going solo. The guides are experienced, patient and passionate. They love what they do and are eager to share the beauty of Patagonia and the joy of fly-fishing. Where you go depends on weather and fishing conditions, but normally you'll take a short drive (about 30 minutes) following the Simpson River. Options include gently floating in MacKenzie drift boats or 'catarafts' along approximately five miles of the Simpson River, Manihuales River or Aysén River. You will fish the runs, rifts, foam lines, deep pools and shoreline banks. You may visit Riesco Lake or a charming small chalk stream (wading only), near the lodge. Generally, 16- to 20-inch rainbow and brown trout of three to six pounds can be counted on during the three-plus hours on the water. One guide accompanies every two anglers, sharing tips, helping with casting, rowing and taking photos.

This excursion showcases the wild nature of northern Patagonia. In this area, the Andes Mountain Range sinks into the ocean, and that phenomenon has created dozens of small lakes, and rivers.

You will drive approximately 50 miles through gloriously rugged landscape to the Simpson River Reserve. Situated in the Simpson Valley, the reserve encompasses 98,844 acres of nature in its purest form. Rounded hills rise up to 6,161 feet and are surrounded by silent forests; deep valleys are filled with the rustling of numerous waterfalls. Check out the Visitor Center here -- it affords a dramatic outlook over a scenic combination of river, canyon and valley panoramas.

A 15-minute ride takes you along an outstandingly beautiful road. Your destination is Aikén del Sur Private Park. On the banks of the placid, transparent waters of Lake Riesco, the park covers an area of five square miles.

The wild and beautiful Aysén District of Chile lies south of Chiloé and Puerto Montt. There are impressive landscapes in this wet and windy region that makes up part of Chilean Patagonia. The construction of the Carretera Austral Roadway now makes the area more accessible for travelers who come to this area of Chile to experience frontier country.

A 15-minute ride from Puerto Chacabuco takes you on an outstandingly beautiful road up to Aiken del Sur Private Park for a wilderness adventure in the virgin forests of Patagonia. The natural beauty of Aiken del Sur includes Lake Riesco, waterfalls, indigenous perennial forests, caducifoliae, ferns, moss and lichen, myrtle and turf prairies with wild fuschia and calafates, as well as macal and mallines or swamps.

The Punta Tombo Nature Reserve, which you will visit today, is world renowned as perhaps the finest spot from which to view Magellan penguins. It is located 111 miles from the city of Puerto Madryn and will afford you the truly unusual experience of observing the Magellan penguin at close range in its natural habitat. It is estimated that more than 450,000 penguins come here each year, and from November onwards it is possible to also see baby penguins leaving their nests.

Enjoy this amazing two- to three-hour marine shoreline cruise by Zodiac. Along the way you may spot some of the many seabirds that make their home in these parts -- cormorants, seagulls, South American terns, shearwaters, petrels, oystercatchers and penguins. At Punta Loma, you'll spot sea lions lounging on a secluded beach, whose backdrop is a sheer cliff.

Hop into a semi-rigid boat at the Piedrabuena pier and set out across the water -- a terrific way to discover the marine life of the Puerto Madryn area.

Depart the ship and head to the Punta Loma Nature Reserve, just nine miles from Puerto Madryn. Young sea lions can be seen here all year 'round and, from April on, many migratory mammals from Puerto Piramides join them.

Travel north towards the Valdes Peninsula -- a UNESCO World Heritage Site for the conservation of marine mammals.

A day trip to Valdes Peninsula is an unforgettable experience. You'll stop en route at the Interpretive Center located at the entrance to the park. This is the ideal place to learn about the endemic flora and fauna of this natural reserve.

Chile's lake district is a region of deep-blue bodies of icy-cold water, ice-capped volcanoes and an exciting culinary scene that's well worth discovering. On this immersive experience, you'll experience the region with Richard Knobloch -- a German-born chef who runs one of Chile's best restaurants and whose creative food transcends borders.

Your transportation leaves Puerto Montt heading towards the southwest. For approximately 13 miles you’ll drive on paved roads, but the last nine miles to the river lead you over a bumpy road.

Heading out of the city and meeting up with the main highway, you will first drive along the shores of Lake Llanquihue and pass through the village of Ensenada. As you circle the lake, the scenery becomes more beautiful with each mile -- lush green countryside, oxen-plowed fields, and weather-beaten clapboard barns and churches.

Leave the pier and travel to the Petrohué River and towards Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park, where you will enjoy a breathtaking view of the Osorno Volcano. Stop for a walk along the Petrohué River to view the rapids cascading over the hard volcanic rocks.

Set off on a class III-IV rafting trip down the clear, azure waters of the mighty Petrohué River -- one of Chile's most beautiful and exciting glacial rivers. Marvel at the surrounding spectacular scenery of old-growth forests, waterfalls and breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and volcanoes.

Only 18 members survived Magellan’s 1519 expedition, which circumnavigated the globe and put Tierra del Fuego on the map.
